This bowl has been inspired by the Blue John mineral uniquely found in Castleton in the Hope Valley. The name Blue John is said to be a corruption of the French for blue and yellow, which are both characteristic colours of this fluorspar mineral. The bowl is made from natural earthenware clay that has a rough stone-like texture. It is decorated with coloured slips beneath a smooth, clear glaze. Diameter 15cm
